We went for a drive and found a waterhole that I had a swim in. The water was freezing cold. I also went for a walk with Daddy and we saw some ancient rocks. They were interesting. We also saw a smelly dead kangaroo.

Flinders Rangers Trip – Day 10
Flinders Rangers Trip – Day 9
Today we went on a tour through a copper mine. I had a tag that went around my neck, and when we got to the mine I had to take off the tag and put on a helmet that had a light on it. This was called ‘tag on’ and the miners used to do it to show who was working in the mine.
Afterwards we went for a drive and saw an open cut coal mine at Leigh Creek. We stopped at a dam for a break and then drove back to the campsite.
Flinders Rangers Trip – Day 8
Today I helped Mama make some bread. We mixed yeast with some warm water, milk, salt and honey and left it in the car until it became frothy. Then we added flour and a bit of butter and mixed it all together. We left that in the car to rise, and when it was as big as the bowl we kneaded it and put it into two tins. When it had risen again we cooked it in the Weber. It was warm and yummy with butter and jam on it. The second loaf we ate with our dinner.
I fell off my bike today and hurt my mouth. It bled a lot and the lady from campsite number 14 helped me. My top lip is swollen a lot and it hurts.
Flinders Rangers Trip – Day 7
Today we drove a loop of the Flinders Ranges National Park. We went to lots of lookouts and we found a creek that had tadpoles and algae in it. Toby and I found sticks and we fished for algae.
When we got to Wilpena we bought some post cards for Oma and Opa, Grandma and Grandpa and Prep E at school.
After lunch we went to visit a sacred site where there were pictures on the rocks made by Aboriginal people long ago.
Flinders Rangers Trip – Day 6
We had pancakes for breakfast today. Mum, Dad, Toby and I went for a walk on the riverbed. There were lots of different coloured rocks. Toby and I collected some rocks to take home.
Today when I went to ride my bike I found that the back tyre was flat. Toby’s back tyre was also flat. Luckily we had a puncture repair kit, so we could fix the bikes. It took most of the morning. There were two punctures in my tyre, but only one in Toby’s.
We went for a little drive in the afternoon to have a look around.
Flinders Rangers Trip – Day 5
I had porridge for breakfast, it was yummy. We packed up the camper and went and had a shower. We had to put money in to get hot water. The shower was in an old tin shed, but it was a really nice shower.
We drove a lot but not as much as the first day. We finally got to the Flinders Ranges National Park. We had to cross lots of rivers to get to our campsite. Some of the river beds were very rocky and we had to drive very slowly. On the way we saw a yellow-footed rock wallaby.
I think it is very nice up here. I can write on the stones and I have made lots of new friends.
